2010 CENTENNIAL SCOUT SERVICE AND CELEBRATION
Mark your calendars for the marquee event for the Great Smoky Mountain Council’s celebration of the Boy Scouts of America Centennial. On February 6, 2010 the council will hold its 2010 Centennial Scout Service and Celebration at REDEMPTION CHURCH, Knoxville, Tennessee. This event will start at 6PM.
This event will celebrate the scout centennial through an interfaith religious service, which will include inter-faith prayer, drama, multimedia presentation, and a keynote speaker. This event will honor past and present scouts and scouters as well as all age-level programs of the scouting program.
A major element in this program will be a parade of flags. Each unit is invited to provide one Cub, Scout, or Venturer to participate by carrying their unit flag. Each unit participating must also provide two flag stands; one for use in the lobby and one for use during the ceremony. Units wishing to participate in the parade of flags must register their intention to do so.
As this is the marquee event for the centennial, we encourage youth and adults to wear uniforms as complete as possible. Youth should wear either their merit badge or Order of the Arrow sashes as well as religious and award medals. Scouters should wear any religious, council, regional or national service award ribbons.
Registration for this event will be very important. There will be no cost for seating.

The event program will feature a listing of honorariums and memorials to past and future scouts and scouters. We ask that these be turned into the scout office with any accompanying donation. Proceeds from these listings will support the council’s centennial activities. Listings must be submitted by December 11, 2010.
